Dragon Killers September 13, 2023Mark BottsCreative & PoetryMarch snaps like the Dragon with claws that sting. The red-shouldered hawks, male and female, ringSky and air as they call to each other. The male, a father, and lady, motherTo be, craft their nest in a hardwood V. Our day’s homework entails glassing their tree,And when March bites with jaws of wind, rain, and Ice, the hawks’ fidelity still withstands,Their home not forsaken or neglected. Lady hawk bears the next generation,And while she waits, the powerful bird of Prey, would we say she is made weak in love?Though new life does weigh a heavy burden, Worse is the sting of stony desolation.Lady hawk bears wings to fly, and to feed Young downies. She is Beauty. She is Wise. With Father hawk, Keen and Brave, in Union They soar with Spirit against the Dragon.Print Mark BottsMark Botts lives with his wife Rebecca and their three kids in West Virginia, where he serves at Bluefield State University as an Instructor of English.Share this:Click to share on Twitter (Opens in new window)Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window)Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window)Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window)Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window)Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window)Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window)Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window)Related Posts Ruth In a Maiden Season The Writing on the Wall The News
