Moses

Bush burning into me strange words of flame,
The One who is consuming me entire,
Upon this mountain tells His sacred name,
And takes my life to live within His fire.
Back to Egypt I must go, my people free
For their ancient God, claiming their new land,
Shedding their old skin, long-worn slavery,
For brave new life held in God’s own hand.
Through my crooked doubts He shall build straight roads,
His wonders work through me, His powers shine,
I shall have Aaron bearing speaker’s loads,
To persuade the people to drink this wine. I
tremble down the mountain to begin,
Another life, and Israel’s battle win.
