Simple Grace

When I draw my last breath
I’ll wish I had one more
to tell you all the things
I never said before.
Of your relentless love
descending as a dove
far down into my heart,
where there it starts
To bury its grace in chambers deep;
its permanence to keep
circling around in arterial flow
keeping my spirit in obedient tow
That strains to escape
into escarpments that rape
my intentions with extraordinary sin
until you expose what lies within;
And again you smile
across the miles
of my unworth
and then you hold me all the while…and softly.
