Three Literary Limericks

The Love Song of J. Alfred Prufrock
The world, both within and without,
creates ontological doubt.
The women chitchat.
Is that fog or a cat?
And what are those mermaids about?
Fiesta
Paris: where the mocking birds sing;
all that jazz and literary bling;
so brave and so gay,
as they party away
̶ except Jake, who can’t use his thing.
The Big Sleep
Marlowe’s a pretty good dude.
When Carmen turns up in the nude,
he doesn’t say ‘yes’,
he gets out the chess;
nonetheless, in the end, he gets screwed.
