Welcome the New Editor to VoegelinView!

Hello friends. Let me introduce myself. I’m Paul Krause. I’ll be the new head editor at VoegelinView as Lee transitions out. Our official transition date is January 1, but we have already begun an unofficial changing of the guards. Some of you may know me already from pieces at published (and republished) at VV. I indirectly know some of you as well from reading your articles and essays over the years. I’m a graduate of Baldwin Wallace University, Yale, and the University of Buckingham where I had the privilege of study with Sir Roger Scruton right before his death. I count myself very blessed to have had that opportunity. I’m also the author of The Odyssey of Love: A Christian Guide to the Great Books. I’m finishing another manuscript (on the Greek and Latin classics) and an analysis on Homer’s Iliad among other writing projects.

Lee has left VV in great shape and I plan on building from that success and expanding it further. My plan is to grow VV into a very accessible mainstream publication going forward. While retaining the academic side to the site, my hope is to have more space for public commentary and essays that can expand the readership base to a more general audience who would benefit greatly from the rich commentary and mission that VV already has and will continue to provide. I believe VV has the opportunity to inject much needed high conservation, contemplation, and criticism into our society.

For those who stay up to date with VV through Lee’s Twitter, you can follow me on Twitter (@paul_jkrause) for daily Tweets about VoegelinView’s publications (and if you take any interest in the other things I might tweet about). I have also already forged a relationship with Merion West where I frequently write on the arts (Erich Prince, the editor at MW, is also a Yale grad and we go back several years). I hope that all of you who consider VV a home will continue to see it as a home so that we can build it up even more in the years to come. I also find it relevant to those who may be on social media to help grow VV’s footprint by connecting with each other and cross promoting VV material.

I look forward to getting to know you all in a more personal and professional way in the time ahead. Though I am taking over as head editor I hope you can all see yourselves as part of the odyssey of growing and expanding VV into the new horizons that lay ahead.

Best,
Paul Krause
