Dialogue

The summer day. The autumn night.
The billowing cloud and the burning fire.
The baby’s cry. The old man’s sigh.
The sizzling wire and the somnolent wind.
The boy, the girl-
longing before dark eyes and bright ardor.
The man, the woman.
longing finding candlelight and the quiet harbor.
Fireflies floating above a field of grass.
A thunderstorm rolling through a mountain’s pass.
The clouded hours. The lucid moment.
The common betrayal and the strange atonement.
Hear the quiet sign unbroken?
Each moment is the wordless token
whispered with persistence;
memory and grace-
the grammar of existence.
