Frederick “Fritz” Wagner: An Appreciation (Chip Hughes)

Fritz Wagner was a gracious friend and colleague who invited me from the beginning of VoegelinView to have my essays appear on the site. He was incisive, discerning, and filled with wise humor. Not long after the site was founded, he asked if I would choose poems to appear on VoegelinView as Poetry Editor, which I did for a few years, a very enjoyable role. Warm and encouraging, and terrifically productive—the time he devoted to VoegelinView was extraordinary—he gave a platform and voice to many a deserving scholar.

Please see tributes from John von Heyking, Paul Caringella, David Walsh, and Harald Bergbauer.
