Holiness

“The Christian’s sanctification is a
gift of God which we cannot claim.”
– Dietrich Bonhoeffer
Holiness
no man can pursue
as if it were a prize;
one may declare his intention
before the Throne of God
to be her arduous suitor
but then must return
to what is solely his own,
Messiah owned,
and search between the blades
of his grass
if, per Grace,
it has started pushing there
like gentle chamomile
—imperceptibly.
