Luminous Darkness

This luminous darkness gently guiding,
Past dim deluding lights that deform sight,
In dancing stillness lies meaning, hiding,
From the vapid visions of passing light.
The silence tells a story beyond reach,
Of complete grasp of mortal hand or mind,
It overcomes our brittle cups of speech,
A song beyond all songs of earthly kind.
Reason is brushed with a quiet hush,
Before this mystery, cannot consume
Love all-consuming, in the burning bush,
Who engulfs further than our hearts presume.
In a mirror darkly we see the face
Which we can always love more, never fill
Our appetites to nausea by the grace,
That leads us to Heaven’s holy will.
