Memory Lane

Memory Lane is where I live, it’s my home,
but you’ll never find me there.
That address, and that one, and that one, too,
have long ago shot forward into another time,
with new actors and their new lives,
                            making their new memories…
So parts of us must be littered across the years
and in many places, always older, of course,
and slightly smaller, but which as a collected soul
you might, like a one-time lover,
sadly smile at a passing thought
                       and forgive yourself thrice over.
