Recent Trends in Young Adult Fiction

I swear like a drunken sailor,
I’ve written more books than I’ve read,
I may not be Norman Mailer,
I may not be too well-bred.

But I can convey an agenda
The while being mindlessly crass,
Be it on matters of gender,
Sexuality, race, or class.

So mine are the higher reaches
Of cultural stardom to climb.
I’m guiding my fellow creatures
To love all their fellow slime.
