Year in Review

2024 marked yet another year of growth for VOEGELINVIEW, surpassing in views and readership the levels reached in 2023, which was the best year in site views and readership having surpassed our 2022 viewership and readership levels. In the past three years, nearly 1.5 million viewers and unique readers have visited our journal, effectively doubling the amount of viewers and unique readers who visited the journal in the previous three-year cycle from 2019-2021. North America remains the largest center for our readership, but readership is growing all over the world – especially in South America and Asia, where Brazil and India make up our fourth and fifth largest readership base. Beyond our continued growth in readership, we also grew our contributor base with more contributors coming, especially, from Brazil.
This year, VOEGELINVIEW embarked on more direct commentary on current events, opening up greater space for opinion writing and commentary. This has proven very fruitful for our growth, and is a great complement to our continued commitment to robust and insightful criticism, poetry, and book reviews. Tyler Hummel joined our masthead as our journal’s Hollywood Commentary column, providing film reviews on numerous movies throughout the year. We also expanded our creative offerings by including short stories and plays this year, welcoming works by Mark Botts and Clinton Rogers.
Furthermore, we wish to give thanks to Rick Avramenko who graciously helped move the VOEGELINVIEW Fund from the University of Wisconsin to Arizona State University where he relocated. This journal is supported by private donations and readers, we depend on your kindness and generosity to ensure that we give back with robust essays of criticism, commentary, reviews, poetry, and more. In order to support the mission of VOEGELINVIEW and keep the bright flame of the humanities as a source of public wisdom alive, consider making a donation by going to the VOEGELINVIEW Fund at ASU.
Lastly, we give thanks to our readers for making this the most successful year (once again!) in our journal’s history. We look forward to your support and continued readership into 2025. Now, without further ado, we leave you with a list of our most read works in case you missed them.
